A tale told through the ages, from father to son, is that of the great Guardians. The strong and brave owls who fought the most evil of adversaries to enforce calm in the owl kingdom. Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole follows the strongest believer in these mythical tales, Soren, as he sets out upon a journey of his own and discovers the myths are indeed reality. The feared Metal Beak has returned to try and reclaim power with a secret weapon. His group goes about kidnapping young owls to either use as workers or to make into warriors for his army. Soren and his brother, Kludd, are taken captive. Soren is made a worker as he is against what is being done, while Kludd finds himself drawn to the captivating power life amongst Metal Beak’s owls allows him. Soren manages his escape, along with a new trusted friend, and sets out on an adventure to find the mythical Owl Guardians so they may put an end to Metal Beak’s plans. What ensues is the greatest of adventure stories full of intensely rich and dynamic characters who possess a strong will and great depth. As Soren finds his place amongst the guardians he learns what it means to belong to something greater. The sibling rivalry that develops with his brother is intense. The final battle between good and evil remarkable. The film accomplishes bringing to life a group of characters one enjoys to the fullest while succeeding in developing not only a story of legend but one of great future possibilities.
