Film Review
Production
The Proposal may be just another formulaic romantic comedy but it is great fun. It is full of laughs, great chemistry, and characters you will fall in love with along the way. The Proposal may not be something new, but it is a welcome addition to the group.
Acting
Sandra Bullock is an absolute abomination, and pure delight, as the evil boss from hell, Margaret in The Proposal. It is a pitch-perfect performance that will make you cringe with disgust and laugh out loud at her requests, and the predicaments she finds herself in as the film moves along. Bullock definitely steals the show in The Proposal but the entire cast works flawlessly together to create an ensemble worth watching.
Chemistry
As an on-screen duo, Ryan Reynolds and Bullock have quite a bit of the magic you want to see between a man and a woman. They are fun and quirky and play off each other wonderfully. They appear as such opposites though that it is somewhat hard to believe they are a perfect match. Not to mention Reynolds comes across as having too much of a boyish edge to Bullock’s matureness. The chemistry is there, but it just may not be perfectly suited for romance.
Comedy Factor
Whether you are laughing at what is actually funny or laughing at what is so cruel it makes it funny, you will be laughing in The Proposal.
